Run 4 A Reason: Rough Runners was founded with one purpose: to build a stronger, more connected, and more adventurous running community across Savannah and the greater coastal region. We design races that challenge the body, ignite the spirit, and celebrate the rugged beauty of the places we run, whether that's on trails, asphalt, beaches, or all three in a single event.
Every R4R Rough Runners race embodies the idea that running should matter. It should push you. It should inspire you. And above all, it should give you a reason to keep going.

We aim to carry forward the spirit of grit and conservation inspired by Theodore Roosevelt. Rough Runners seeks to foster a community of runners who push forward with toughness, purpose, and respect for the wild places they explore. Our vision is to create race experiences that inspire resilience, protect the environment, and continue to give back to our region and beyond.
Our Vision
Our name pays tribute to Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. He fought to protect our natural landscapes, challenged corrupt systems, and lived a life defined by courage, strength, and action. His Rough Riders embodied unity and perseverance in the face of adversity.
Rough Runners channels the same spirit. We believe in being tough, tireless, and purpose driven.
We run toward challenges, not away from them.
Protecting the places we run is central to who we are. Most of our events operate as cup free races where runners bring their own hydration systems to reduce waste. Our commitment includes:

Compostable bowls and materials at long duration events
